History
This 911T Targa came out of production on February of 1971 in Germany and made in way to USA as US Speced car. Exterior color was very rare Albert Blue (albertblau) with Black interior. Car had been sitting in Chuck Croteaue of Redline Service's garage for a long time and he finally agreed to sell it to the current owner to be restored. Redline Service ( https://redlineservice.com ) is a well known Porsche shop that has been in business forever. I received the car with very minimal rust. Most of the original Albert Blue color had been sanded out or faded as shown below. The engine felt strong but was not very smooth. I drove it in my neighborhood for few weeks before deciding to completely overhaul it. Car was missing seals, trim pieces, dash, wipers, and many other items. The suspension had seen better days, tires were old, there were lots of rattling noise . Car came with beautiful red interior that was not correct for the car. I decided to completely restore the car, replaced with new parts sourced Sierra Madre collection of California and lots of $$$ later we have an extremely well running 911T that will go anywhere and any distance.
This is how I received the car in June of 2019 from AZ.
Albert Blue (Albertblau) Color
Albertblau is a particularly rich shade of non-metalic dark blue. it falls somewhere in between navy and medium blue. This special color was only offered between 1970 to 1972 model years. This limited two years make the color very rare and sought after by Porsche enthusiast and collectors. It is a true classic color.
Why 911T
1971 911 T (Touring) does not have the mechanical fuel injection system (MFI) found in E and S trims (to meet emission standards). 911 T 2.2 is a carburetor engine that give you a unique, exciting driving experience than the other trims. Although E and S produce more power, T has more low-end toque that gives you lots of fun factor at a lower RPM range, especially in twisty roads and day to day city driving. In addition, carburetor engines were considered simpler to maintain such that many owners at the time converted MFI units back to carburetor. 911T is a true drivers car hence the designation Touring, it is nimble, row and made to be driven with less maintenance. The particular 2.2 engine is newly crafted by Volker Bruckmann with few touches that improves the overall experience and longevity.
Why Targa
Longhood (1965-73) Targa cars are rare in comparison. Targa roof also gives it a fractionally higher center of gravity. Longhood Targa also claimed to be stiffer and handle well due to the fixed bar, and Targa roof designed. Targa open air experience is much more enjoyable than convertible thus practical and cool. Overall, Targa is a good investment.
